Applications now open: Apply for the Code.org Professional Learning Program
Help today’s students become the superheroes of tomorrow when you empower them to learn problem-solving, critical thinking, and more.

Starting today, middle and high school teachers from all backgrounds can apply to our 2022 Professional Learning Program that prepares and supports educators to teach computer science. No previous computer science experience is necessary for two of the three courses available and many workshops are being held virtually!
Why teach computer science? Studies show that students who learn computer science perform better in other subjects, excel at problem solving, and are more likely to attend college. In other words, teaching computer science is a way to empower students to become the superheroes of tomorrow!
The program for middle and high school teachers is hosted by Code.org Regional Partners across the country, and is designed to prepare teachers before and during their first year teaching CS Discoveries, CS Principles, and — new this year! — CSA. In most regions, scholarships are available for educators to attend free of charge!
As a part of the program, teachers will receive week-long training in the summer and additional support throughout the school year to bring CS into their classrooms in the 2022–2023 school year. Participating teachers also recruit and support diverse groups of students to take advantage of CS courses.

Why participate in the Code.org Professional Learning Program?
Two reasons: proven results and active support, both during the initial workshop and during your first year teaching the course.
Proven results:
- Code.org’s free-to-use curriculum is used in more than a third of schools nationwide. These span from large districts in Los Angeles and Dallas to suburban districts and small rural districts.
- More than 100,000 teachers have participated in our Professional Learning program — and more than 90% of them would recommend it to another teacher!
- A school’s participation in the Code.org program causes an estimated five-fold increase in the number of students that take and earn qualifying scores on the AP Computer Science Principles exam. And students who take AP exams are more likely to both enroll in and graduate from college.
Active support:
- With a focus on a customized experience, participants work in small groups to deepen their understanding of the materials.
- Participants and facilitators have the opportunity to share expertise and collaborate on strategies to bring to their classrooms, giving participants a chance to learn from everyone in the room.
- Multiple check-ins during your first year teaching the course and year-round access to the Code.org forum, an online professional learning community that offers continued support with tools and content.
Here’s what teachers have to say
We consistently hear directly from teachers that our Professional Learning programs are some of the most valuable professional development they’ve ever had across any subject. Here are just a few things some teachers have to say:
Help others join this movement
If you’re already teaching computer science in your classroom — or if you’re a Code.org alum yourself — please help us spread the word about this opportunity!
Our community of incredible educators is always growing, and we need your help to find the next great computer science teacher. If you have friends or colleagues who you think would be great candidates, we have a number of resources tailored toward administrators or your fellow teachers.
With the Omicron variant impacting schools everywhere, we know planning for the future is difficult right now. We cannot thank you enough for your vital work in preparing students for the future, especially given the continued challenges created by the pandemic. If you have any questions, or need additional support, please contact your Regional Partner today.

Please note: These workshops are for educators in the U.S. planning to teach CS Discoveries, CS Principles, and CSA. Elementary school teachers interested in teaching our CS Fundamentals course can find a workshop in their area and register here (no application necessary). For teachers outside the U.S., please review this article, which outlines the support available to you.
